Our Governors

Welcome to the page of the Ley Top Primary School Governing Body.

If you have any enquiries, then please feel free to speak to us when you see us about school, or contact us by email (office@leytop.bradford.sch.uk) or send a letter addressed to the Chair of Governors via the school office.

If you have a specific issue regarding your child, please speak to the relevant adult (i.e. class teacher in most circumstances) first in line with the School Complaints policy (available on the Policies page). Minutes from Governors’ meetings are available on request from the School Office. Under GDPR, minutes concerning confidential matters may not be routinely provided.

Our Governing Body

At Ley Top Primary School we have adopted the 'circle model' of school governance where we meet as a Full Governing Body each term (6 times per year). Individual and pairs of Governors also carry out visits to the school throughout the year to meet with leaders and provide written reports to the Full Governing Body.

Our Governors

Chair of Governors - Mr Adam Byrnes

I have worked in the education sector my entire working life, something that I am both very proud of, and very grateful for;  my time working in schools has been immensely rewarding, and being a Governor at Ley Top provides opportunity for me to contribute positively to a school that I have grown to love.

My experience of working in and with schools is many and varied;  spending the first 15 years of my career working in Secondary Education IT Support, with progression into Senior Management, Data Management and MIS Support … and then around 12 years ago making a move into supporting schools directly as a part of a small business offering a range of support services to schools.  Since then I’ve had the privilege of working across all phases of education, and across all types of schools – and with all variety of challenge!

As a parent – and of neurodivergent children, my personal experiences have further shaped my perspective. I am a passionate advocate for SEND and for equal opportunities for all children.

Being a Governor at Ley Top provides me with the opportunity to help shape the outcomes of our young people for the better – and I’d like to continue to embrace that.

Vice Chair of Governors -

Local Authority Governor - Mr David Mann

Co-opted Governor - Ms Danielle Parry

Co-opted Governor - Mr Dan Walker

I have worked in primary education for over twenty five years in Bradford. I have experience of being staff governor at Girlington Primary School for more than ten years where I have worked hard to embed the focus of governors to be on the vision, values and accountability of the school. I have enjoyed working with the leaders, staff, pupils and parents at Ley Top Primary in recent times and was pleased to be co-opted on to the governing body. I believe that all children should be given the best chance to succeed in life and that a good early start in education is the key to this.

Parent Governor - Miss Natalie Lo Re

As both a parent at Ley Top and a leader in education, I am deeply invested in the learning journey of every child. I bring experience in developing high quality teaching and learning across teams, curriculum design, and professional development of teachers. I'm particularly committed to helping schools lay strong foundations that prepare children not just for academic success, but for life. I currently lead a faculty at an outstanding sixth-form college in Bradford, where I oversee teaching, learning, and help students achieve consistently high outcomes. I joined the Governing Board to contribute to the school’s strategic direction and to help ensure every pupil at Ley Top is nurtured, stretched, and given the chance to thrive.

Parent Governor - Mr Iftikar Hussain

Staff Governor - Mrs Norma Simpson-Hirst

I have worked at Ley Top for 35 years in which time all my 5 children and some of my grandchildren have attended the school. In my role as staff governor, I am involved in shaping the school's strategic direction, ensuring effective governance, and contributing to the school's success, bringing invaluable insights from my professional experience and daily interactions within the school community. By serving as a staff governor, I feel that I can make a significant impact on the school's success and contribute to the well-being and development of the entire school and wider community.
