Urgent Message 22/03/2020
If you’ve been offered a childcare place we strongly advise you to consider if it is critical to the COVID19 response. Amended guidance now states that provision is available for critical workers whilst they are at work only.
Please please only use us as a last resort, emergency childcare. I’m really concerned that I won’t be able to keep everyone in school two metres apart and despite all the stringent hygiene measures that are in place, school is nowhere near as safe as the children’s homes.
The staff I have available are reducing by the day and it feels as though I’m being asked by the government to bring far too many people into one building, which obviously increases the chance of infection despite everything I’m trying to do to minimise it.
The last thing I want to do is frighten anyone but I have to be absolutely honest and tell you that school is the last place to be at the moment. Whilst I and some of my staff are well enough to take the risk, it’s a risk that parents should only be taking if faced with absolutely no other option.
If your child has to come to school on Tuesday, do not walk in with anyone else and maintain a two metre distance at all times. Everyone in school will be washing hands every 30 minutes and surfaces will be regularly disinfected. That said, even with those measures in place there is still a high chance of infection. The fewer children in schools, the lower the risk that the virus can spread.
Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org ASAP if you can manage in another way and can keep your child at home. This will help us plan accordingly.
If you do need to send your child into school then please inform through office email before dropping your child off what your working patterns and shifts will be. School will require employee’s address and email so they can verify position and working hours. Please can you also put in the email two emergency contacts for your child.
Thank you for your understanding and support in such a difficult time. Stay safe.
