WELCOME TO Year 5/6
Welcome to 5/6. We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you once again into our Ley Top Primary school family and thank you for the support and commitment you have given to us so far. Mr Murgatroyd, Mrs Studzinski, Miss Sajid and Mr Bayliss are the class teachers and are supported by Mrs Winning, Miss McGrath, Mr Bickerdike, Mr Machell and Mr Hussain.
Your child will spend their last two years at Ley Top Primary in 5/6 before heading off to secondary school. Our aim during this time is for children to reach their full potential in a fun and engaging atmosphere. We hope that children will develop their independent and organisational skills further and we expect children to be responsible for their learning and be motivated to learn. We endeavour to provide a relevant and challenging curriculum that will enable them to build on their learning. This is an important time for the children as we prepare them, equipping them with the tools they need, before moving on to Secondary School. During their time in 5/6, children will continue to develop their skills in Reading, Writing and Mathematics as well as developing their understanding of the wider world via a varied and meaningful curriculum that we have designed with the children and their interests in mind .In the Summer Term, pupils in Year 6 are formally assessed and will sit Statutory Assessment Tests (SAT), and parental support is extremely beneficial in helping your child to achieve their full potential .We hope your child enjoys their time with us as much as we enjoy watching them grow into independent, compassionate learners.
medium term plan
At Ley Top Primary School we produce 2 different Newsletters.
At the start of every half term, each year group produces a 'Reminders Newsletter'. In these newsletters, we inform you what we'll be learning in the half term and also remind you of any events we are having.
At the end of every half term, each year group produces a 'Celebration of Learning Newsletter'. In these newsletters, we share our learning for the half term.
