Modern Foreign Languages- Spanish
Spanish Mission Statement at Ley Top Primary School
At Ley Top Primary School, we believe that learning a language is vital in providing our children with social and cultural experiences. The learning of a language enables our children to develop socially whilst broadening their understanding of the world and its many cultures.
As of September 2022, we have invested in a fun, engaging and inspiring Spanish curriculum called ‘La Jolie Ronde’. We have also decided to teach Spanish from Reception through to Year 6 in hope to build the Spanish and cultural foundations earlier on to develop and embed these cultures as they move through school.
Our aims here at Ley Top Primary School;
We aim to provide invaluable educational, social and cultural experiences for all pupils at Ley Top Primary School.
The national curriculum for languages aims to ensure that all pupils:
- Speak with increasing confidence, fluency and spontaneity, finding ways of communicating what they want to say, including through discussion and asking questions, and continually improving the accuracy of their pronunciation and intonation.
- Discover and develop an appreciation of a range of writing in the language studied.
- Understand and respond to spoken and written language from a variety of authentic sources.
- Can write at varying length, for different purposes and audiences, using the variety of grammatical structures that they have learnt.
